Improve Beta Test Information

I am a relatively new member of the Beta Test group and find information isn’t readily available on new features or comments, at least for 2.200. Bug fixes usually refer to a question/comment in the Forum. New features are defined but not how to actually use them. It took a little digging to find that portrait mode is only available for New designs. I recall a warning that loading normal layouts in portrait mode could be destructive. I found that not true, at least in my case, but requires moving existing controls to fit the new layout size. This is to be expected.

I also would like to see my Beta comments and that of others. I don’t see any way to get this information. If someone reports a finding or an issue and I am not informed, I can’t replicate it. I have no way to test and comment on the findings of others

Also, I was not informed that the Beta for 2.200 added Stream Byter updates at the last minute with an anticipated release this month. I found it mentioned in the Forum. So I am unable to beta test but plan on eventually testing the SB updates out. I use both Input and Output Stream Byter codes in several layouts that I am planning on updating shortly.

One last thing. Going to TestFlight states Expires in 89 days. 89 days from when? That has never changed since I first opened it. But your entry on MDP Forum says it is planned for release in June. It would be nice to know the planned release date for Beta releases to schedule my testing accordingly.

Beta version expires, but important layouts are stuck in its data folder, not seen by purchased version - how to fix

I wanted to post this for others who run into the same problem. I was a MDNext beta tester, and was happily working on my layouts, making tweaks, etc. until sunday, when the Beta expired. I instantly went to the app store and purchased a copy of MDPro2 and when I started it, my layouts were not there - the new version did not know about the beta version. The solution I found was to attach the iPad to a computer using iTunes, then use the iTunes file transfer feature to copy xxxx.mididesigner layouts into the filespace for the new MDPro2 version. As mine were saved as autosave, I needed to change the name to "auto.mididesigner" before copying into the new folder. Once I did that, my layout was available for loading in the config.actions.load dialog. I'm posting this in case anyone else encounters this issue.

Boss Katana iPhone layout

Hi all,

It would be nice to have a thriving Boss Katana midi designer pro community. Use this layout, try it, mess around with it and let’s make it better together.

Here is a practical layout to access all red, green and yellow fx on the fly.

Features:

- Direct access to all the other fx slots for each preset;

- opportunity to combine boost and mod, combine delay and fx; (not possible with standard boss tone studio);

- opportunity to use boost and mod separately, delay and fx seperately, think of it as 9 extra stomp boxes for each preset.

Usage: press the colored buttons in the MDP layout for each fx slot. When using boost you can use the solo button. The black buttons function to turn on/off each fx block, use it most to turn it off or recall the setting.

The bar in the middle can be use to combine the fx. To return to separate fx handling press off on the bar and press one time mod (or fx) to have the separate fx handling back.

What do you need:

- you and your DIY attitude;

- a boss katana;

- an IOS device, preferable a iPhone 5 (and up);

- for wireless transmission an Yamaha ud bt 01 Bluetooth usb-midi host or a raspberry https://neuma.studio/rpi-as-midi-host.html (less than 50 bucks);

- maybe a nano rubber stickon for your iOS device;

Make sure In boss katana studio the midi channel is set to , the fx1 (boost/mod button) has midi CC16, FX2 (delay/fx button) has midi CC17 and FX3 (reverb button) has midi CC 18.

Saving Layout now includes File Ext

When saving layouts the file ext is now included in the file name. Is this a bug or design?
