Images are unique to each layout, stored in the layout, not the app.  (Other than the built-in images.)

When you press the image manager delete button, the image is deleted from the layout, including from any panels it was applied to.

If you use a prior layout as the basis for a new layout, it will have all the prior images.

But appears you are seeing something different.  When weird things are happening, the first check is to close all apps and reboot: https://mididesigner.com/wiki/doku.php/manual:15_troubleshooting#close_and_reboot

thanks for confirming this

"When you press the image manager delete button, the image is deleted from the layout, including from any panels it was applied to."
This was not working for me yesterday...

...OK, I just tried this on my ipad mini:
-open config pane>
-press Image Manager> navigate to image>
-press "Delete" on image gallery image(s)>
-then close the Config Pane>
-Open Config Pane> Load a different layout;
-Open Config Pane> Load layout where images were just deleted
-Open config pane>
-press Image Manager>images have not been deleted

I achieve successful image deletion only by pressing "Save Layout" in the Config Panel AFTER deleting images in the Image Manager within the same layout.

Neither of these (layout specific images and must Save Layout to delete images) is explained in the MDP2 Manual; thanks for the clarity.
hmmmm...I found this explanation here
https://mididesigner.com/qa/5001

Which covers point 1 (images are unique to layouts)
but not point 2: have to Save Layout to delete images-
makes sense....it just isn't explained anywhere that I find :-)
you have to save a layout for ANY changes to be stored.
