Switch sound bank and then program change?

Question

My basic need to start is to be able to set a sound on my V3 Sound Grand Piano XXL sound module. It contains many nice sounds in multiple banks. The sound I need (playing the celesta part in a Nutcracker performance in December) is in what they call bank 3. The basic midi keyboard I have can only send a program change 0-127, with no way to send a bank change. So I want to set up a panel with buttons to select a specific sound bank (send a controller message) and a dial to select a program within then bank. The unit has 6 banks all together, the basic midi set at bank 0, and other types of sounds grouped in banks 1-5. I also want to set up a few shortcut buttons to specific bank/program combinations.

I can see there’s much more I could do. But that’s the basic need to start.

There is a combined bank & program change message predefined, but the channel & bank are fixed.  I find it more useful to have one control set to control bank changes, one to control the program changes, then group with a supercontrol.  MDP2 also has controls for these.

In the control property explorer, under the midi tab, message type
- choose bank select for bank control.  This is automatically a 14 bit control, with both LSB and MSB.  If your device only wants MSB or LSB, then use CC 0 for MSB, CC 32h for LSB
- chose program change for the PC message.  This by default is a 7 bit control.

Using named ticks, you want to fill these with synchronized values to select programs in the desired sequence.

Look at the Master's class layout (https://mididesigner.com/qa/7955) tab on bank and program changes for an example that shows how to do this.  Although reading it now, I guess it have been more clear, so reply if you have more questions after reading it.
