Welcome Glenno!

I would say the reference manual https://mididesigner.com/wiki/doku.php/manual:10_intro
is usually a good starting point, as well as being able to see how others do these things definitly helps... although the most fun is to sit next to your iPad and your device, with a MIDI implementation sheet in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other!
At the end of the day, the most rewarding thing is to use something created by yourself.

Ed.
Thanks Ed.
I've downloaded an editor for my Roland FA keyboard and it is really well put together.  (full credit to the programmer).  However I am having trouble connecting my iPad to my keyboard and the editor?  I am using Roland's USB/Bluetooth product which works well connecting my iPad with other Roland keyboards and editors.  But it cannot open a connection with the MD editor?

Can you provide any clues as to what I might be doing wrong?
Cheers

Hey there, we have no experience with the Roland USB/Bluetooth product. Either MD sees it from the Connections tab -> Bluetooth or we're out of luck. Have you given that a go?

One product we do know and love is the BT01 by Yamaha

However, it's possible that the Roland device works as well. Thanks!
Please don't forget to report back with what you find. We'd love to connect in yet another way. Also, don't forget to big up the layout author on the QA site!
Roland's Wireless / USB tool is called the WNA1100 manufactured by Netgear.  It has been around for years and I have been using it for quite a while now.  I have had no problem connecting all my Roland Keyboards by Bluetooth using this device.  But it wont connect my selected MD controller to my Roland keyboard??

Any answers? Cheers

Hi Glenno. Thanks for the info. This adapter -- https://www.roland.com/global/products/wna1100-rl/specifications/ -- has been discontinued by Roland, and only works with specific ROLAND devices and ROLAND apps. Furthermore, the API did not follow the rtpMIDI standard (Yamaha's stuff does, for instance) and was not opened to third-party manufacturers (like us). There are many ways to connect to your device, including wirelessly using the Yamaha dongle mentioned, and with wires (using this adapter from Apple, https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MK0W2AM/A/lightning-to-usb-3-camera-adapter, which ONLY works with class-compliant USB devices).

Thanks!
Dan
