Is there a limit to nested controls? Specifically, Preset knobs?

If a control is not marked a "supercontrol" it can still have subs which you cannot see unless it's marked as super (because they were placed there when it was a super, generally). So you might have some subs in there that you're unaware of. Could that be it?

No there's no limit.
Hmm. I don't think so. I just created a brand new toggle button. It has no relationship with any other control. I tried to make it a super control of a radio button that control buttons that control a preset knob that controls other things. I could not make the new button a super control because of the loop error message.

Do button names have to be unique in a relationship chain, because I am naming this button the same name as some of its children.
I'm not sure what I've got going on, but something funny is occurring. Since I need to get something up and running, I decided to duplicate some functionality on a new page rather than try to get the subcontrols working. I still am using a preset knob, though.

The preset knob has 5 subcontrols (what are also the subcontrols of a preset knob on a different page). When I try to store a value in the preset knob, I get the error message, "Preset knob has no sub controls.", even though the five controls are listed as subcontrols.

I am working across banks. The 5 subcontrols are all in a different bank. Is that a problem?
This is 2.97, right? We'll do some testing of this feature in the lab and see what we can discover. No, names are not relevant.

The only time it matters that you're working across pages or banks is if the stuff is on pedalboard, which is below the page (likely not).
Just did some preliminary testing. Using a Preset knob that is the super another knob that is the super of a bunch of buttons that are the supers for another preset knob that is the super of a regular knob, everything is fine.

Can you send me the page, hopefully stripped away of everything irrelevant and with clear markers as to where to look, please? Use support [at] mididr.com

Thanks!
Dan
I'm running 2.97.0 on my iPhone. I will send you the layout.
Got the layout and communicating with you on ZenDesk, but I must say: something is definitely going on with that one. Even a new button created from scratch cannot be a super of that knob... Moving the category of this to bugs...
