Stream Byter's capabilities

Question

The Stream Byter Plugin is really a major improvment in MD and I am going to learn its language.

I'd have a preliminary question: as far as I've understood the Input Rules affect only the midi messages directed to the MD controls and the Output Rules affect only the midi messages sent out by the MD controls.

This mean that, for example, I couldn't use the MD SB Plugin simply for filtering/mapping midi messages passing through MD (e.g. simply for transposing the notes of my keyboard). Have I understood correctly?

Best I can tell, MD has two data flows:

External Midi Data --> Input StreamByter --> MD Midi receive controls

MD Controls Midi Output --> Output StreamByter --> Midi Out

There is currently no way to grab a stream between two MD controls.

Thanks, this is 100% correct. I've been thinking recently about adding a third one in that feeds back, but the issue is... MIDI loops. I can't think of an easy way to avoid them, nor what to do when you have one. Adding a third SB would be completely trivial aside from this concern.

Thanks for your kind answer, MD team. In fact I wasn’t thinking about a third SB, but about a “module” that could capture from the Input SB the “orphan” messages (i.e. messages that don’t match with any MD controls) and send them directly to the MD midi output. In my opinion, this shouldn’t trigger any loop issue. Thanks again for your kind attention.
