Is it possible to trigger a snap back?

Question

I'd like to be able to delay a "snap back to default" until triggered.  For example, I could have a crossfader that I want to slowly return to the center but not until I press a seperate button.  If it is possible, would I be able to set up multiple buttons, each with their own value to snap to, that will send distinct values to the crossfader?   It would be like presets on a car radio tuner.
