Problem With Combined Controls and GR-33

Question

I have designed a program change group to change programs on my GR-33

- an UP button (momentary)

- a DOWN button (momentary)

- a PROGRAM knob (normal)

the UP and DOWN super the PROGRAM and the DOWN is an inverted super

Here is what happens.

- If I hit the up or down button everything works as expected/the GR-33 program changes up and down

- if I hit these buttons quick in succession then the indicator in the knob changes between the two values (i.e. 55 and 56) an dthis can be "unlocked" by pressing the button again. The display on the GR-33 shows also that its switching between the two programs

- if I touch the knob and go for example from 66 to 22, then  it seems to oscilate between the two values and I have to wait until it has spit oput all the Midi data before it becomes responsible again.

- twice, when pulling the knob to 0 (range is  0 - 127) Midi Designer crashed and when restarted it had a lot of its windwos garbled and I had to remove it from memory and then restart.

am I doing something wrong ?

I really love this program and I think it has great potential, don't give up on us ;-)

Hi and thanks for your question. Finding bugs that can be consistently replicated is VERY difficult at this point, so you've done a great thing here. To start: can you get any of the weird behavior to happen if MIDI Designer is not connected to anything at all? I'm suspecting a MIDI-feedback loop of some sort.

thanks for your answer. I agree that this may be a Midi loop of some sort. I'm not really a Midi expert. In fact, the NON-Availability of sophisticated Midi tools is the single fact that I am considering going totally acoustic if I haven't mastered and set up all my HW and SW to talk to each other by spring. So I'm putting lots of hope in Midi Designer here and what I have seen so far is encouraging.
I didn't have time to work on this for the last couple of days, but will check into what I send out to my Midi bus and go from there.
