Let's focus on Wifi. Have you seen midiDesigner.com/connect? Old but good. You can skip the ENTIRE ad-hoc part, but you need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.

On the other hand, download musicIO - MIDI only and use your USB cable. But let's focus on Wi-Fi for diagnosing, methinks

Thanks
Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. Midi designer is sending events just fine to the Mac, it's events generated on the Mac that aren't getting over to the iPad. I'm using wifi, not an ad hoc connection.
Sorry, good point, that was already clear, my bad. So... if you "spy on connections" in MIDI monitor you see the events? And you're aware of the MIDI monitor inside MD?
I can see the events in a midi monitor on the Mac but not using a monitor on the iPad. I was aware of the learn button, is that what you mean?
No. There are two LEDs on the top right of MD, one for out and one for in. Also, there is More -> Log on iPad or there's a dedicated button on iPhone.
OK, I have it.  Using MidiMock I had to set the destination to my Network Session. My own app I had to direct its events to the network session using the Live Routings in Audio MIDI setup.

It's a little fiddly, I have to set the route avery time I fire up the app, I don't suppose there's a way to make the routing stick, or just have my app decide where to send events? Long shot, maybe.
Sorry for the delay: please drop me a mail to support at midiDesigner dot com and we can discuss shortcomings and workarounds. Thanks and glad you got it up and running.
No problem. I have it all working now thanks.
