Transposition Changes by 16 Steps?

OK. I HAVE an answer but dear god I can't figure out why it only seems to work this exact way. Explanation please?

To rotate by 16 steps, setup 16 pads at MIDI Octave -1 - My first pad is C-1. Add a transpose super controller slider/knob and assign all the pads to it. Set the Transpose control's midi range to be 0-112 and the control to be  8 notches (0 to 7 or in my case -1 to 6)

Default has to be 0 for some reason. Why is that? Ideally I'd want the default be somewhere in the middle like 48 steps but if I change that # from 0 it seems to bork everything up.

I have the file for this if anyone is interested.
