MIDI Target Manufacturer(s): Korg
Summary: Great layout for the iElectric for iPad. It also works with the iElectribe Gorillaz Edition, and can even control both at the same time for total craziness. Nice!
This layout is designed to control the iPad version of KORG's Electribe, the iElectribe. It also works with the iElectribe Gorillaz Edition, and can even control both at the same time for total craziness.
The Pads page contains full size pads for each of the voices, plus Run and Loop buttons. The Run button is a toggle switch, so it takes the place of the start and stop buttons on the iElectribe.
The Effects page makes it easier to select the global effect via distinct radio buttons, as opposed to the single knob on the iElectribe. The two FX Edit buttons are mapped to a large X-Y pad. The FX Send assignments are directly available from the layout, which makes it easier to handle than the two-step process required in the app. (Note that effects will still only be audible where they are enabled for a particular step.)
The Mix page makes it easy to control levels, pan, mute, and solo for each voice in one place, instead of selecting each track individually in the app.
The pitch setting for each voice in iElectribe is a single knob which displays only numbers from 0-127. The Pitch page allows you to set a specific pitch for each of the four "synth" voices. The keyboard for each synth is an octave higher than the previous one.
Finally, the Mod page maps the Mod Speed and Depth controls for each voice to individual X-Y pads, allowing you to easily tweak multiple voices at the same time, which is not possible within the app itself.
The MIDI channel for the iElectribe is hard-wired to channel 10, and all of the CC#'s are static, so there is absolutely no configuration necessary (or possible, for that matter.) Let me know if you encounter any issues or have questions. Enjoy!
One other note: since iElectribe doesn't send MIDI back to MIDI Designer, the layout controls won't accurately reflect the initial preset values or any changes made directly in the app.
