Preset pages to buttons?

Hi,

I have many pages in MidiDesigner each with different synth settings. Is it possible to make a new page containing only buttons, that let me instantly send the controls on each page? Eg, button1 would send all control values on page 1; button2 all values on page2, etc. So I can basically change multiple synth parameters instantly with a button.

Also, would it be possible to add a fade in, so parameters would smoothly go from a start to an end value over say 16bars? Of course, start and end values would have to be manually input & there would be a need for midi clock sync to get the time in bars accurate. That would be v.cool tho :)

Hi and thanks for your questions.

Right now there is no easy way to make presets that just span a subset of controls. There are some ways around this that would send certain values for a lot of controls, but no options that will allow you to send CURRENT values for a set of controls. To be honest, I hadn't thought about this possibility. I will add it to the queue of possible features, but I'm pretty sure it's subsumed under the not-yet-existing feature: presets for a group of controls (right now they are rig wide).

[I might think about some workarounds for this. Of course, sending the value of a whole bunch of buttons is possible via momentary butttons and super-sub controls, but it won't take the current value of a control. Actually it might work in your case: supercontrol is momentary button, subcontrols are momentary buttons with "send on only" selected.]

Regarding your second question, you can already do this (but only by time). Check this question and see if it works.  If not, comment there and I'll flesh out the answer.

Could u explain what u mean by rig wide - the not-yet-existing feature: presets for a group of controls (right now they are rig wide).

Also, I checked out that vid, but tempo syncing would be super cool ;)  (using calculators & fractions are what computers are for!)

By rig wide I mean that there are presets, but they are for your entire layout. This is good if you have several iPads, but not so great if you only have one ;)

Regarding tempo sync, I KNOW, more than anyone. I personally have a MIDI Looper that I run in my personal pet project, MJDJ, but it needs to get into MIDI Designer.

One issue is that I'm VERY suspicious of MIDI Clock (or even MTC) over Wifi. However, yeah, calculating according to a tempo (with no sync) could happen sooner. I hadn't thought of that.

Just to add regarding midi sync & wifi. On iOS there's virtual midi, with no need for wifi on one device. Also, Korg WIST uses Bluetooth, which I've had no issues with.

Hi gdog, yes, and we support virtual midi 100% so far, but about sync, I won't support anything that can't fly on Wifi... at least not now. But MIDI clock might actually work over Wifi. Anyway... So you're saying Korg WIST uses Bluetooth for MIDI sync, or just for MIDI data? Thanks!

Another way for wifi-free midi on iOS - 2 irig midis, a female to female midi adapter, & 2 iOS devices. Works v.nicely :)
