MIDI Bus - Controlling two devices from MidiDesigner

Tried this again today, though I set it up a little differently.  I had MidiDesigner connected wirelessly via rtpMIDI to my laptop.  My rtpMidi was set up to provide passthrough to a USB MIDI converter I had plugged into my keyboard.

When I turned on the MidiDesigner wifi interface, the sound would cut out while I played on my keyboard.  It did not matter if I had a config loaded or not.  I also tested and verified that this occures on the Lite version as well.

Conversely when I ran Midi Monitor, it also connected via WiFi.  The sound on the keyboard was perfect, and all of the midi commands passed through to Midi Monitor.  I was also able to control my keyboard from Midi Monitor without issues.

Has anyone experienced this?  Has anyone tried controlling multiple devices via Midi Designer, when one is a musical instrument?
Apparently in understanding Midi a little bit more, I need some sort of hardware midi merge box to do what I want.  I'm trying to acquire a cheap one so I'll try to keep this updated as I find out more...
