To set up a control that responds to the acclerometer:

  1. Add a new control
  2. Advanced -> Properties -> Accelerometer
  3. Turn the accelometer on and off by using More -> Accelo

What About the X-Y-Z?

A control can respond to the accelerometer in the X dimension (tilt right-left) and the Y dimension (tilt forward-back).. Then there's the Z dimension: Upside-down means that the control will ONLY respond to the accelerometer if the device is flipped over (think pizza or pancake).

The Z-dimension functionality is pretty cool because it allows you to assign a control to the X dimension, and ANOTHER control the X dimension if you flip the iPad/iPhone over. By default, controls are set to ANY for the Z-dimension, meaning that it doesn't matter which side of the device is up or down.

just wanted to add that to turn accelerometer on, you have to tap on the running guy icon in bottom menu you can reveal.  Just switching a controls setting to allow accelerometer (in the advanced settings) could make one think it's not working when it's actually not on.
