Midiman MIDISPORT 4x4 or 2x2 and MIDI Designer?

Question

I see that MIDIMAN MIDISPORT 1x1 & 2x2 endorced on the MIDI Designer site.
I own a MIDIMAN MIDISPORT 4x4 and would like to use it with my iPad 4 & MIDI Designer 12.  If the 2x2 works, I suspect that the 4x4 would work too.  I've owned other M-Audio USB MIDI interfaces and noticed that the driver inf files are contain references to the same source code.

My question is how do I specify which PORT on the interface to use.  For example how would I indicate that I want to send PATCH 1 on CHANNEL 8 on PORT 2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and thanks for your question. I edited it a bit and then removed the reference to MD12, since all the MIDI Designers are the same in this regard. Thanks!

What do you mean exactly? That you send Ipad midi to channel 8 on port 2 for example? If that is the case it's easily done in a sequencer. Just make the input of your midi track the Ipad midi and make the output of your track to port 2 channel 8.

Thanks, but that's not quite what I had in mind.  

The MIDIMAN MIDISPORT 4x4 has four separate PORTS meaning there are 4 MIDI IN & 4 MIDI OUT connections.  For example, I need to send a MIDI program change command to a device on CHANNEL 3 which is connected to PORT 4 on the MIDISPORT.  How do I indicate which PORT I want to send a MIDI program change command to ??  I'm not using a DAW or a sequencer.  This is for a live rig.

Do the four ports show up in Midi Desiners Connections dialog under virtual and hardware connections?
The ports should all be there as separate connections and its a matter of selecting which you want to connect to.

Unfortunately, you cannot route individual controls to individual outs at this time, though you can turn them on and off. Does this help answer your question?
