When Will MIDI Designer 1.6 Be Out?

I just get back into working with MIDI Designer Pro as I have the equipment changed I needed changing. I read with much enthusiasm what is up with version 1.6. The question would be when can we expect it and are there any upwards migration considerations as I will start my new layouts from scratch and don't want to redo all of them when 1.6 comes out.

So 1.6 is in beta now and we're pretty happy with ALL of the features that are going in. There was some last-minute shuffling around of the gray page feature, but it seems to be ready to go and the beta team is happy. We're going to take a few more days to submit to the App Store because... it's closed anyway. Then, after that, it should be about a week. Thanks for your interest!

Hi and thanks for your question.

There are NEVER forwards-compatability issues, but occasionally we introduce backwards-compatability issues (but that hasn't happened in over a year, and we still support iOS 5 + iPad 1, so there are no issues).

I would suggest NOT waiting to create stuff with 1.5.x. The changes you can make for 1.6 will be relatively trivial compared to the main job of creating your layout(s).

Comment 2014-12-26: This was a year ago, and the layouts created in a 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5 are still working in MIDI Designer 1.7.. and we're working hard with extensive regression testing to keep this true.
