the short of it is: given the privileges we have on iOS, we have only about ten minutes before MD gets backgrounded completely. Is this consistent with the amount of time it takes to drop out?

MD also tries to resume all connections when you switch back to it. Which are the connections that you are losing? Wi-Fi or...?
Aw man, after spending hours getting Mididesigner to work exactly like i want, I get this... I managed to link the expression pedal of my fcb1010 to control the volume of 3 loops in the Loopyapp at the same time.

The timeout i get is 3 minutes.

Any solutions so far?

I'm very surprised though, as many audiobus supported apps have no problems with the 3 minute timeout
We're providing backgrounding in 1.6.2. Please get in touch to help test. Thanks!
Not sure if you're still interested in this, but we're offering backgrounding in 1.6.2. Please get in touch via config -> actions -> mail us to help test (if you like). Thanks!
Use config -> actions -> email us, please...
Note: the AudioBus-supported apps stay in the background by playing audio. Infinity Task is a jailbreak tweak, so that would work, but we're not testing nor supporting jailbroken devices (though we try, but we don't have any in the test team). 1.6.2 will solve this issue.
Even after the update, the app still closes on me, and i'm still reliant on the jailbreak tweak.

Also, is it possible for MIDI designer to remember the last Hardware sources?
Now i have to manually disable MidiBridge every time i start up as in interferes.

3rd, regularly it cannot find any hardware connections, and i have to restart the app for it to find them.
Hi Tom. Thanks for the suggesion to remember disabled hardware devices. We'll consider it, but we've also got a lot of reasons to NOT do this (mostly having to do with confusing users).

Regarding the App still closing on you: have you been using a jailbroken device the whole time, or did you jailbreak it for this purpose? Again, we've tested this extensively and the App does NOT close if the new feature in 1.6, "Stay Alive in Background," is on (i.e., blue).

Any more information you can provide would help.

Thanks!
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I have been using a jailbroken device all the time. But my problem is i use mididesigner together with midibridge, audiobus, tonestack and loopy. This on an iPod 5th gen. It does work, but its at its memory limit. Mididesigner is usually the first one to quit.

I plan to buy the iPad mini retina which hopefully will solve this problem.
Is there maybe a way to make the app less memory intensive?
When for example i use just a octave maker in tonestack, mididesigner will quit out of memory problems. The other 4 apps have never quit on me.

I also notice the reactivity is quite slow when supercontolling a slider to 3 sub sliders. I link these 3 sliders to the volume of 3 loops in loopy, and the delay in response is very noticeable.
Using the expression pedal to control the wah wah in tonestack works nice and snappy.

If you want i could video the issue.
Hi Tom, we're constantly finding new ways to make MIDI Designer more memory efficient, so it improves somewhat with each new release. Are these memory issues found on the jailbroken device? What's the OS version that you're using with the jailbreak?

Regarding a supercontrol -> 3 sliders having low reactivity: it's quite odd. Is it possible you have a MIDI feedback loop? Can you try shutting down the other apps and see if the problem persists?
I'm using ios 7.1.2 in my jailbroken iPod 5.

And yes, i noticed that just running tonestack together with mididesigner greatly slows down the speed. I cannot find any setings in tonestack that improve the situation.

Running mididesigner with only loopy also slows down the speed, but less than with tonestack. Loopy clearly states its midi connections, and only the mididesigner midi input is selected. The reduced speed is noticable is loopy as well as in midi designer.

I'm off to a 2 week holiday tomorrow do any further testing wil have to wait.

Cheers,

Tom
But then, sliding the supercontrol slider with my finger results in no lag. This only happens when controlled from my fcb1010
Hi, please get in touch via Config -> Actions -> Email Us and we'll see what we can do there. Thanks!
