Connecting iPhone to iPad

Hi and thanks for your question.

First thing is that you can try out everything you want with MIDI Designer Lite (or MIDI Designer 12). Which doesn't answer the question, but it's good to know before buying MDP.

You can definitely connect from the iPhone 5 to the iPad with an iRig on both sides. You can ALSO connect via Wi-Fi, if they can see each other (thoug you've said no WiFi is likely at your gigs). Another option is the iConnect.

Your iPhone can definitely control Animoog. However, you might find that another, dedicated keyboard app might be more fitting. Since MDP doesn't have transpose (yet), it might not be the right choice.
