Ableton Live Macro Controls with instant focus

Question

I would love to have a simple layout with 8 knobs that can shift focus instantly to the macros of whatever rack is selected, like the knobs on an APC-40.  My 12 year old Oxygen 8 keyboard has this functionality with its 8 knobs so I figure it should be possible with Midi Designer but I can't figure out how to implement it.

Thanks for this question. Automapping behavior, including what you've described but not limited to it (could include picking up the names of the knobs, etc). isn't supported yet in MIDI Designer. It would be Ableton specific and is not part of the standard MIDI spec.

At some point in the future we might implement this.

Channel changers might do some of what you want, but there is no way to know, currently, which rack is selected.

Also: I'll have to check out how the Oxygen 8 is doing this. I also wonder if it's "legal" (or legitimate) to rely on the Oxygen 8 implementation inside Live... hmmmm...

Anyway, for the next few months, this won't be happening, but I hope you'll stick around.
