Patch implementation / Editing Current Patch Values

And thank you for your wonderful work. The template is working fine for me so far, even though i'm a newbie with Midi Designer.

My question is related to an already asked one but i'd like to understand why it's not possible to replicate a program's parameter loaded from the MiniAk into Midi Designer. This can be a huge improvement. I understand that this is possible from a "Midi" perspective as some software based editors like Hypersynth MiniAk editor can do it and works via Midi. Apparently, there is the possibility to "Request" the patch parameters from the MiniAk into the Hypersynth editor (http://www.hypersynth.com/miniak-editor.html).

Here is the section regarding the "request patch" feature in their user manual :

 Request patch loads a patch from specific Miniak Memory location into the editor. Program name and Category are stored in the patch. But a patch cannot be requested by its name, you must address it by program number and bank number (fig.1-1). When you change your synth presets, the synth automatically transmits the program and bank number out of its MIDI port. Editor receives this information and sets the bank/program number, Only thing you must do is to click on the request patch button. You can find request patch button in the tool bar under MIDI IN device selector (fig.1-1).

Request patch is done by using system exclusive messages “Sysex”. Sysex messages are usually used to transfer large amount of data between MIDI compatible audio gears. Patch name, category and all sound related parameters can be sent out from your synth in sysex format and editor will convert them to a *.syx file and save them in your HDD. The size of a standard Miniak sysex file that contains one program is 434 bytes. Larger files may contain multiple programs, bank or operating system firmware. Alesis ion and Micron programs are compatible with Miniak.

Is this a limitation that is coming from MidiDesigner or from the Template itself ? Does anyone knows if we can implement this in the Template ?

I think this will give us a consistent upgrade feature :)

You're right BUT knowing that this feature is possible from another editor means that there should be a way to implement it in the layout :)

If memory serves, and often it doesn't, the Miniak will send back a giant sysex which needs to be parsed to get at the individual parameters. If this is the case, there's no way to do this in MD currently. We'll need to verify if this is correct.

It is quite easy to get individual sysex back from Miniak. No need to split the sysex.
