Can I use this to change patches on a midi hardware synth using hard wired connection?

Question

I am a performing keyboardist and I want to use my iPhone to create an interface that will allow me to change patches on my midi keyboard. 

 

I don't have a wi fi network at my gigs so I would prefer to go hard wired (maybe with line6 midi mobilizer to connect the iphone and the midi synth?)

 

I am thinking this will allow me to have my most frequently used patches on one screen rather than having to navigate the banks/patches on my keyboard.

 

Has anyone done this? Can this be done?

The Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer or iRig are both great options to do this. Also, both are now available at all electronic stores (not just music stores), so you can even buy them, try them out with MIDI Designer Lite, and see if there are any technical difficulties (there won't be).

This is a great use of MIDI Designer.
