If someone can tell me what a jogwheel does, in terms of MIDI, that would be great.
Thanks for your suggestion and continued interest.
A jog wheel could be used just like a knob, to increase/decrease values, to scroll through a list of songs on a DJ app, to change sounds
Jog wheel would be similar to the current knob BUT it would be endless, keep on spinning
forgot to mention that a Shuttle wheel usually goes along with the Jog wheel so we can fast forward / rewind,

it's like 2 wheels in 1,   the outer usually bounces back to position when released
Thanks. My real question with this stuff is not whether it would be useful, but how interesting it is. Wouldn't you want to use an App that can display the time on the iPad and all that stuff? Maybe you're using multiple MIDI targets? That would make sense.
Hey, we've spoken via email (thisisjaredtaylor@gmail.com) about some issues I was having while trying to make a layout for traktor scratch pro. A jogwheel would be an excellent addition and I DO know that lemur uses them as they have traktor templates, so it's certainly possible, I just don't know how to explain how you'd program the app nor even how you'd set up the jogwheel once in the app.

A Jogwheel would basically be a knob but it rotates endlessly. Rather than going 0-127 and stopping it would continue to turn. What I'm unsure of is if it goes back to 0 when it makes a full 360 degree rotation or what. This is one essenial thing for DJs who want to use your program without having to resort to the "sync" button. I just am too stupid to be able to suggest these things in a way that makes sense to you as a programmer.
I just think it would be nice to be able to have a PLAY button that looks like a PLAY button and a STOP button that looks like a STOP button etc..

Keep up the great work
Thanks to you both. Great stuff. I think I'm beginning to get an idea of how a jogwheel works. It might take some serious time, but if either or both of you are interested in getting onto the Beta team, send me an email, please. This makes it easy to hash out concepts when I do work on them.
Hey guys, just saw this thread now...

Please look at http://mididesigner.com/qa/1140/adding-encoders-endless-%26-fixed?show=1160#c1160

I explain what CC values etc. get sent from an endless rotary in that comment.

I just use the emoji keboard in iOS to "label" the controls with the icons... a little limited but better that nothing! I am creating a transport controll panel to help streamline the recording phase using Acid Pro.

Being a bit OCD with design and feel ( I have been looking into customising the emoji icons but no luck so far...

Hope that helps!

Thanks for this. There are some limitations to Emoji having to do with size. The Japanese and other non-Western keyboards have a LOT of very relevant characters that work a lot better.

Anyway, regarding this point, see our early blog article:

and the resizing problem:
